The stars may not have aligned to let Lyon County relax some business restrictions as related to coronavirus, but the tracking metrics definitely have.
During KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Friday, Lyon County Public Health Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern said things have changed in a good way for Lyon County since Governor Kelly announced Phase One of her COVID-19 recovery plan two weeks ago.
Public Health monitors disease spread, hospitalizations, deaths and active cases. Lyon County’s active caseload isn’t where officials want them to be — in the 70s as opposed to the low-20s — but the case count is well below where it was two weeks ago.
Public Health’s decision to go with Governor Kelly’s Phase 1.5 means beauty-based businesses can reopen if they set online appointments or pre-schedule appointments, and it means fitness centers and health clubs can reopen without holding in-person group classes and without opening locker rooms unless for restroom purposes. It also means restaurants can move past the delivery or curbside model and start seating guests if they can maintain social distancing.
