Lyon and Osage counties plan to follow Governor Laura Kelly’s lead on slowly reopening certain aspects of the economy Monday.
Lyon County Public Health supports what’s being called Phase 1.5 of the governor’s Ad Astra reopening plan and will not extend the current health order limiting restaurants to curbside or delivery services when it expires Sunday night. Likewise, Osage County will not have more stringent regulations than what Governor Kelly has outlined. Morris County will announce its plans Friday.
Chase, Coffey and Greenwood counties have not announced their reopening plans.
Phase 1.5 is notable in several ways. It lets beauty businesses like hair and nail salons, barbershops, tanning salons and tattoo parlors open for pre-scheduled appointments and online check-in appointments. It also lets fitness centers and health clubs open, although in-person group classes may not take place and locker rooms have to stay closed unless they allow access to restrooms. Mass gatherings, including graduations, are limited to 10 people maximum.
Bars, night clubs, non-tribal casinos, theaters, museums, community centers, large entertainment venues, community swimming pools and organized sports facilities remain closed. Fairs, festivals, carnivals, parades, tournaments, games, practices and summer camps are also not allowed.
