Senator Jerry Moran’s new National Suicide Hotline Designation Act passed unanimously in the United States Senate on Wednesday.
According to Senator Moran “Designating 9-8-8 as a nationwide suicide help and prevention number provides an easy-to-remember and easy-to-access service for people to dial when they need a helping hand.”
The line will include the Veterans Crisis Line, and the bill also authorizes states to collect fees to help maintain call centers that may see an increased volume of calls.
