A third USD 253 Emporia school is seeking to become an education redesign school.
Representatives of Emporia Middle School will join the USD 253 Board of Education’s regular meeting Wednesday evening at which time they will submit a request to undergo education redesign. If approved EMS would be just the third 253 school to do so after William Allen White and Logan Avenue Elementary schools underwent redesign over a year and a half ago.
Additionally, the board will consider approving a digital textbook and resource for two new business courses, business communication and business management, at Emporia High School. An adjustment to the 2019-2020 academic year calendar, an update on the emergency operations plan and potential approval of bids for repairs to a chiller at EMS will also take place.
One executive session for the acquisition of property is also planned with action anticipated. The meeting begins at 7 pm Wednesday and will be viewable on the district’s website.
