Coronavirus is having an extended impact on programs through the Emporia Recreation Commission.
Neosho Valley League activities for junior, minor and major baseball have been canceled, as have league activities for pigtail, ponytail and junior softball. Information about the Rec Commission’s machine-pitch baseball, T-ball, micro baseball and micro softball programs will be announced later.
The Rec Commission plans to have instructional sessions for grades 3-5 and grades 6 and up twice a week starting June 8 if Lyon County can be in the state’s COVID-19 Phase Two recovery process by that time. Families currently registered for baseball and/or softball will get the first chance to participate and will be emailed all details. Registration will reopen this upcoming Friday.
The Rec Commission has already had to cancel May’s Summer Scape activities as well as spring adult softball, track club, bus trips, the Mystery Lunch Bunch for this upcoming Thursday and the annual Birthday Bash.
More information is available through the Rec Commission’s website, www.emporiarec.org, and its Facebook page.
