No injuries were reported after a semi failed to clear an underpass in downtown Emporia Thursday.
Emergency personnel were called to the Mechanic Street underpass shortly after 10:30 am. According to Emporia Police Sgt. Tim Wacker a US Foods truck was northbound on Mechanic Street and was too tall leading to the roof of its trailer colliding with the underpass.
The roof of the trailer suffered damage, the extent of which is unknown. The driver, listed as John Robertson of Topeka was cited for driving on a non-truck route and released at the scene.
The underpass was closed for roughly two hours as crews cleared the scene and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad inspected the bridge for damage.
