The state’s decision to push the income tax filing deadline into fiscal 2021 due to coronavirus pushed April’s monthly revenue totals down.
The Kansas Department of Revenue says April’s total was $578 million, well below the $610.7 million from April 2019. However, the total was slightly above the recently-revised estimate as announced by the Consensus Revenue Estimating Group last month.
Individual income tax receipts were down over 10 percent from April 2019, while corporate income tax receipts were 7 percent below April 2019 numbers.
The state made the decision early in the COVID-19 pandemic to push the filing deadline from April 15 to July 15.
