Earlier this month, KVOE News reported an increase in residential trash and recycling pickups in Emporia that were directly connected to the coronavirus pandemic. Other area towns are seeing that same trend.
Republic Services, which serves Burlington, has had to “realign and reprioritize” its routes, meaning bulk waste pickups have been temporarily suspended. Those should return to normal Monday.
Republic says a surge in residential waste collections has set up “unique challenges” for the company, but it has overcome those hurdles. Stats are not immediately available.
