A memorial service is coming next month for one-time accountant and longtime USD 253 board clerk Norma Stinnett, who passed away over the weekend.
Stinnett was 80 years old when she died Sunday.
Born in Emporia in 1940, Stinnett attended school in Council Grove and Wichita before attending Kansas State Teachers College, later known as Emporia State University. She became an accountant at Schulte, Klein, Gaeddert and Agler before joining Emporia Public Schools as board clerk, insurance risk manager and district historian, where she worked for 33 years before retiring in 2010.
Stinnett was active in several professional organizations and service clubs, including the Lions Club, American Business Women’s Association and Emporia Area Retired School Personnel.
Stinnett is survived by two sisters, three children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The memorial service is tentatively planned for May 30. Cremation has already taken place.
