The Symphony in the Flint Hills is the latest major event to fall victim to coronavirus.
Director Leslie VonHoelten says the decision was “heartbreaking,” but was done with the health and safety of audience members, performers and area communities in mind.
The event was slated for June 13 in Wabaunsee County. This is the second straight year the event has been canceled after severe weather forced a cancellation last year. The activity list included the feature concert with the Kansas City Symphony and Bela Fleck, as well as prairie walks, inspirational talks, an art show and cowboy poetry.
General admission tickets will be refunded through EventBrite by May 30. Ticketholders can donate the cost of their ticket to Symphony of the Flint Hills if they choose to help offset the financial impact. Ticketholders wanting to make a tax-deductible donation can call 620-273-8955 or email info@symphonyintheflinthills.org for information.
