The Greater Emporia Area Disaster Relief Fund has a new website.
The website, www.geadisasterrelieffund.org, was announced on KVOE’s On-Air Chat on Wednesday. It’s the latest to both accept donations for businesses and nonprofits needing help and let those entities apply for money. Show co-host and Sauder Enterprises Chief Operating Officer Erren Harter:
The website also has a lengthy list of frequently asked questions and a link to the fund’s Facebook page. Nearly $18,000 has been donated to the fund.
Also on the Chat was the first announcement of financial award winners. For nonprofits, ECKAN of Lyon County and ECKAN of Osage County will receive a combined $3,500 to help with rent, utility and grocery needs. For businesses, Studio 50-4 and Jack’s Lawn and Pool each got $1,500, while Harry and Lloyd’s obtained $1,000.
The relief fund is a partnership between the Emporia Community Foundation, Emporia Main Street, United Way of the Flint Hills and KVOE. For more information, go to the website or email geadisasterrelieffund@gmail.com.
