Fire destroyed several rows of hay bales at a farmstead west of Reading on Wednesday afternoon.
Allen-Admire firefighters responded to the intersection of Roads 270 and S a bit after 4 pm. A controlled burn got out of control and into the hay bales.
At least 175 bales were either destroyed or are in the process of being destroyed after firefighters let the blaze burn. There were no injuries and no damage to nearby structures. There is no estimate on the amount of acreage burned.
