Yet another major spring event is off the community calendar, thanks to coronavirus.
On Wednesday evening, the Flint Hills Rodeo Association decided to cancel the event scheduled for May 28-30, saying “it would not be in the best interest” to move forward.
This the latest event cancellation or postponement for the area. The Dirty Kanza, set for the same weekend, has been pushed to September. Emporia’s Glass Blown Open later this month has been canceled, although the Pro Disc Golf Association Junior Worlds are still tentatively slated for Emporia in July. Organizers of another major event, the Symphony in the Flint Hills, will make an announcement by April 30.
This would have been the 83rd annual rodeo. Next year’s rodeo will be June 3-5 in Strong City.
