There has been a lot of attention placed on the Centennial league recently, with Topeka West and possibly Topeka Seaman and Highland Park leaving the league, what does that mean for Emporia High School?
Emporia High Athletic Director Curtis Simons says they are committed to the Centennial league along with what would be the remaining 6 schools, and the league is looking to add schools.
Mr. Simons says an 8 school league would be ideal.
If Salina South and Salina Central turn down the invitation to join the Centennial League, Mr Simons says there are several options that could be explored.
Any league changes would not take place before the 2022-23 school year since the current 2 year scheduling cycle has been set.
Currently the Centennial league consists of Emporia High, Topeka High, Topeka West, Highland Park, Washburn Rural, Topeka Seaman, Topeka Hayden, Manhattan and Junction City.
