Residents who have been recently tested for coronavirus aren’t the only ones wanting to see the results.
Lyon County health and emergency management officials are keenly interested in the results, which have been showing modest increases of overall patients over the last week and a significant increase in the number of recovered patients. On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Monday, Health Officer Renee Hively said the pace of test results has slowed at a time when they are more important than ever.
Results that used to take two or three days now take as many as 10, with tests going to Lenexa and out to California before coming back. Lyon County Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell says the delay makes it hard to track the exact situation. It also runs counter to our “get-it-now” culture.
As of Sunday afternoon, Lyon County had 30 total cases, 11 probable positive cases and 19 recovered patients.
Both Hively and Fell say Lyon County residents have taken social distancing to heart, despite recent reports off the Unacast Social Distancing Scoreboard that give Lyon County a D grade. Fell says it’s important to keep social distancing even as the weather improves.
