Easter 2020 will be windy.
A wind advisory has been announced for Lyon, Coffey, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 10 am to 10 pm based on the prospect of northerly winds as high as 50 mph.
Morris County is in a high wind warning from 10 am to 10 pm, while Chase and Greenwood counties are in high wind warnings from 7 am Sunday to 1 am Monday. Peak wind gusts could be 50-60 mph in those counties.
The National Weather Service expects wind speeds to increase through the day and be strongest from the late afternoon hours into early Monday. It also expects the high winds to knock down trees, limbs and power lines, with widespread power outages as a result.
Residents are told to avoid wooded areas or any place near branches. Drivers, especially those with high-profile vehicles, are told to be careful Sunday.
