Life Care Center in Burlington says it continues to follow all health guidelines as coronavirus patient numbers have apparently stabilized at the facility.
The Coffey County Health Department’s latest update on Life Care Center had 41 coronavirus patients at the skilled care facility. In a statement provided to KVOE News, Executive Director Beth Stockebrand reports the number as of Thursday is 43, including 24 residents and 19 employees. Of the residents, 20 are in isolation at Life Care Center and Stockebrand says workers will continue its in-house care for the affected residents unless they need to be transferred. The other four, including one who died, were transferred elsewhere.
Employees who have tested positive have been told to recover at home.
Stockebrand says associates have been “diligent” in their use of proper hand hygiene and personal protective equipment. She also says workers are screened both when they get to work and when they get home. Anybody with a fever over 100 degrees is sent home, told to call their physician and reported to the Coffey County Health Department for follow-up and testing.
Restrictions also continue for visitors, family members and vendors until further notice.
