For the 2nd day in a row and 4th day this week there are no new positive COVID-19 cases in Lyon County. In Fridays report Lyon County Public Health list the total number of positive cases at 27. There remains 8 probable positive cases and there have been 12 recoveries.
While having no new cases is good news, Lyon County Public Health Information officer Verlin Conkel says part of the reason for the low count, is test results are not being returned as quickly.
Public Health Nurse Melissa Smith says COVID-19 has not peaked and the the curve has not been flattened.
Verlen Conkel adds with the delay in receiving test results that they don’t have an accurate count of infected people.
Once the test results are returned Conkel says he is expecting an increase in the number positive cases.
Conkel also says that more testing would help give a better picture.
The Coffey County Health Department is also reporting no new positive COVID-19 cases. They are reporting 24 active cases.
Chase, Morris, Wabaunsee, Osage and Greenwood counties did not have new reports.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is listing the new count for Kansas at 1166 positive cases. That is an increase of 60 cases from Thursday.
There have been 50 deaths reported in Kansas.
KDHE is also reporting 10,248 negative tests.
