When the Emporia Recreation Commission’s seasonal catalog comes out next week, a lot of those activities will be moved or canceled.
The most recent announcement from the Rec Commission on Friday says there will be no Summer Scape program in May due to COVID-19, and the program may not start until June 29. This step will also delay registration and payment dates.
Camp Wilson activities, meanwhile, may move because Wilson Park may not be available over the summer.
Numerous Rec Commission events have been canceled:
*Spring adult softball
*Track Club
*Rec Commission Birthday Bash, 5K and 10K
*Mystery Lunch Bunch on May 14
*Bus trips to Atlantic City, Cape May and Philadelphia
Several activities have been rescheduled as well:
*Jones Aquatic Center Hire Day and swim lesson assessment for April 30
*Pioneer Woman day trip
*Kansas City Royals day trip
Folks needing more information about these specific activities are told to go online to www.emporiarec.org or to the Rec Commission’s Facebook page.
