With Governor Laura Kelly’s executive order on mass gatherings at churches and funerals overturned, Chase County is announcing a standalone order to limit gathering sizes.
Health Officer Candra Good has signed an order limiting mass gatherings to 10 people or less. There are several exceptions, including medical facilities, long-term and assisted-living facilities, hotels, law enforcement centers and jails, government facilities used to respond to disasters, manufacturing and related facilities and public transportation if social distancing guidelines are followed.
The order is in place until further notice.
Chase County had issued a stay-home order with a 10-person maximum on public gatherings March 26. That stay-home order was superseded by the governor’s stay-home order that is currently set to expire April 19. The governor issued an executive order Tuesday to cap church and funeral gatherings at 10 people, but that was overturned by the Legislative Coordinating Council on Wednesday.
