Although social distancing measures are still in place, the Salvation Army’s services are still available.
Capt. Deb Thompson is dispelling rumors of services being cut with the coronavirus pandemic ongoing, although the office is closed to the public.
The next round of commodity boxes, which hold essential food items such as meat, fruit, and vegetables for low-income individuals, will be available April 16. When speaking with KVOE, Thompson outlined some of the new social distancing measures they have put into place while distributing these boxes.
Thompson also says services such as the food pantry and financial services are still available but are now being conducted primarily over the phone.
The Salvation Army is still accepting donations for its food pantry. Thompson says they are currently in need of boxed meals, cereal, and canned foods.
To contact the Salvation Army for their services, or to make a donation, call the office at 620-342-3093.
