Instead of preparing for track meets Emporia State track and field Coach Steve Blocker is now focused on helping student athletes deal with being at home and away from school.
Coach Blocker says he has been pleased with the response from his track and field athletes.
Coach Blocker and the members of the mens team were in Birmingham, Alabama for the NCAA DII Indoor Championships when the winter championships and spring championships were canceled. Blocker, who is also part of the national track and field committee, said that was a heart breaking time especially with the 4 by 400 relay team of Taysean Goodwin, Brandon Rhone, Guy Ramos and Hayden Goodpastor having a shot a winning a national championship.
Coach Blocker says all they can do is look forward.
The Emporia State track and field team would have been competing in the Wichita State hosted KT Woodman Classic beginning Wednesday.
