Lyon County businesses are continuing to follow county-issued guidelines set forth a week ago despite a recent state-wide order issued over the past weekend.
Saturday, Governor Laura Kelly issued the state-wide order, superseding previous orders issued by counties in recent weeks. The state-wide order did differ in some respects from Lyon County’s including requirements for local businesses.
The county’s order prohibited carry-out options for restaurants locally while the state order still allowed it to take place. KVOE recently reached out to local restaurants to gauge their thoughts on the topic.
Radius Brewing Company General Manager and co-owner Chad Swift says they, like many other local eateries, have decided to stick with the guidelines imposed by the county. He says while the carryout option may help business in the long run, it also puts the community at a greater risk.
Do-B’s owner Daryn Bontrager agrees and says his staff had already made adjustments to their operations ahead of either order and felt there was no need to change what had already been effective. Bontrager also took the time to commend the entire community of local eating establishments for adhering to the recent guidelines and making necessary sacrifices to help keep the community safe.
Area restaurants are not the only businesses choosing a side so to speak, as Roberts Blue Barnett Funeral Home has also announced they will be adhering to county-issued guidelines as it pertains to their operations. Funeral Director William Pike tells KVOE News, memorial services are being rescheduled at this time. The funeral home is still conducting burials at this time, however, friends and family members are asked to pay their respects one at a time until further notice.
