The COVID-19 pandemic is beginning to majorly impact local companies on a financial note, which has led one local facility to make a difficult decision regarding certain staff.
Monday, Flint Hills Community Health Center announced its decision to furlough “select staff” to help preserve the financial stability of the company. FHCHC CEO Renee Hively says a total of 23 positions were furloughed with the decision being made based off of an individual’s role with the company and seniority.
Hively tells KVOE News while the decision is an upsetting one for everyone at FHCHC, it is thankfully not a permanent one.
Hively says the health center provided each individual with packets containing resources and information to assist them during the furlough period. Additionally, the health center is paying for an additional 30 days of coverage for their insurance premiums which will cover all furloughed staff for the next 60-days.
Hively also stated that it was an extremely difficult decision to have to make and they are hoping to bring each individual back on as soon as possible.
