An Emporia woman was taken to a medical facility in Ottawa following a single-vehicle injury accident in Franklin County Saturday evening.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, the accident occurred at Interstate 35 mile marker 185.5 54-miles east of Emporia just before 10 pm Saturday evening. According to KHP, 21-year-old Sydney L Williams of Emporia was northbound in a 2016 Nissan Altima when she fell asleep at the wheel causing the vehicle to veer to the right and strike a guard rail.
The Altima then spun out across both lanes of traffic and came to a rest in the median. Williams was taken to AdventHealth in Ottawa with possible injuries.
She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
