Three Missourians, including two children, came to Newman Regional Health for treatment of apparently minor injuries after a crash on the Kansas Turnpike 40 miles northeast of Emporia.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 28-year-old Morgan Smiley of Overland, Missouri, was northbound when she lost control of her minivan shortly before 2:30 pm Saturday. The van went off the highway and hit a rock embankment.
Smiley went to Newman Regional Health, as did 6-year-old Julie Smiley and 7-year-old Mia Smiley. All three suffered suspected minor injuries. All three were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
