The Kansas Department of Transportation has extended its deadline to submit applications for harvesting right of way permits to May 1.
Permits are required for any landowner who plans to harvest hay on a Kansas highway right of way. Without a permit harvesting along right-of-ways on any state highway is considered trespassing, according to KDOT.
Any landowner with land adjacent to the right of way will be given permit priority until May 1. After which permits will be issued in the order that the applications are received.
