Bobbi and I made a good decision to come home last week. We go to California to avoid the cold, snow and ice, but in these times Kansas is where we want and need to be.
When I awoke our first day back I thought to myself “I’m thankful that bad dream is over,” only to discover that bad dream is real.
About the Coronaviruss there has been a FaceBook post often suggesting the Bible visits this situation directly. The genesis comes from scripture, but to the best of my knowledge that Post isn’t scripture. In Chronicles 2 there are mentions of rain, locusts and plague and some other things; and prayer too, but not a deal.
The FaceBook Post goes like this:
“Whenever I hold back the rain or send locusts to eat up the crops or send an epidemic on my people if they pray to me and repent and turn away from the evil they have been doing, then I will hear them in heaven, forgive their sins, and make their land prosperous again.”
Some suggest the rain refers to the wildfires in Australia, the locusts in Africa and of course the epidemic would now be ours and world-wide.
While that theory might fit today’s world situation it also suggests our God is trying to make some kind of a deal with us. I am certainly not qualified to debate that point.
What I am qualified to suggest is that the solution offered in that Post is a good one and we should comply.
As I have said countless times in the nearly thirty years I’ve been offering my thoughts here – our best plan to address our current challenge is to – first, follow instructions and then – pray!
If you don’t pray this might be a good time to start.
If you are a believer it’s time to pray as you’ve never prayed before. I’m certain God will hear them all!
I’m Steve Sauder.
