The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is recommending licensed daycare providers to keep their facilities open for the time being.
KDHE made its current recommendations Sunday as the coronavirus pandemic continues, saying it would like “continuity of operations” at centers, preschools, daycare homes and school-age programs — and these facilities can enroll new students in accordance to their license terms. KDHE says local public health officers may enact more strict provisions.
Providers need to direct questions to their child care surveyor. Parents needing childcare or information can go online to the KDHE website or to Child Care Aware of Kansas.
As KDHE made its recommendations to keep childcare locations open, the Kansas Department of Revenue has decided to close all its offices, including the 116 Division of Motor Vehicle offices. The closure is effective Monday through at least April 6.
Division of Motor Vehicle offices are at Emporia’s Flinthills Mall; Courthouse Square in Cottonwood Falls; the Coffey County Courthouse in Burlington; the Greenwood County Courthouse in Eureka; the Morris County Courthouse in Council Grove; the Osage County Courthouse in Lyndon; and the Wabaunsee County Courthouse in Alma.
