Signage on the front door says Emporia’s Clarion Inn is closed due to the coronavirus situation, but COVID-19 may not resolve the closure.
Representatives of Jacaruso Enterprises say the closure, which went into effect Wednesday, will be permanent “for now” unless somebody else buys the property.
Back in October, the property group behind the hotel filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection — shortly after announcing the completion of a $6 million renovation project in March 2019.
The hotel had been under the Avaste hotel flag for several years before becoming a Clarion property. The hotel and conference center was built in 1973, according to Lyon County records, and has 99 rooms available.
