Windy conditions have been commonplace across the KVOE listening area since early afternoon Thursday.
Wind gusts topped 40 mph at the Emporia Municipal Airport shortly before 6 pm Thursday and hit 40 mph shortly before 3 am Friday. More windy conditions are expected areawide all day.
The windy conditions followed some light to decent rainfall totals in parts of the listening area early Thursday. The KVOE studios picked up around .45 inches of rain, while the Municipal Airport only got 0.16 inches.
Temperatures haven’t hit the upper 20s Friday morning as expected, but they will dip into the mid-20s Friday night, setting up a hard freeze areawide. Residents need to cover plants as best as possible or bring them inside to protect them.
