USD 417 Morris County is entering new territory Monday.
Instead of welcoming students to school after spring break, schools will be closed at least until March 30. Superintendent Aron Dody admits “it’ll be weird.”
Morris County will offer its students drive-through and walk-through meals as a way to keep students fed while practicing the social separation now commonplace. Students, however, will not have homework or academic expectations because USD 417 staff need more time to get remote education platforms ready and the district is determining how many students have high-speed internet access — and how many don’t.
USD 417 was closed at the direction of the Morris County Health Department. A similar situation has unfolded in Wabaunsee County, where USD 329 Wabaunsee and USD 330 Mission Valley were closed — also until March 30 — at the behest of the Wabaunsee County Health Department.
