A new-look LCAT is coming, thanks to state funds.
The Kansas Department of Transportation announced LCAT has obtained over $65,000 in funding for dispatch radios, security cameras and vehicle wraps. LCAT Finance Officer Shane Brunner tells KVOE News the dispatch radio and security cameras are big improvements, but the wraps are what everybody will see.
Brunner says the radios will link to the new equipment being installed as Emporia and Lyon County renovate the emergency communication system — and also as LCAT sees increased demand from outside the Emporia city limits. The security cameras will offer peace of mind for riders and the driver as well as evidence in case of a dispute.
The total local cost was over $80,000, and Brunner says the improvements would not be possible without the state money.
LCAT is also receiving funds for two new vehicles, a full-sized van and a van equipped with a lift, as part of a separate grant.
