Nobody was injured after a vehicle bounced off a couple fixed objects and caught fire in central Emporia early Sunday.
Fire crews were called to the 800 block of West Fifth around 3:10 am. Emporia Fire Capt. Jesse Taylor says the driver apparently hit a brick mailbox and a tree before his car stopped next to a utility pole and caught fire.
The car was heavily damaged, both by the crashes and the resulting fire. Further details about the incident are pending.
