The Emporia State softball team opened MIAA play with a doubleheader split with Pittsburg State Friday.
Pittsburg State won the first game 4-0. Emporia State bounced back with a 7-6 win in 9 innings in the second game.
Coach April Rosales was pleased with the bounce back in the second game.
Roni Raines drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 9th.
The Lady Hornets are now 13-8 for the season and 1-1 in the MIAA.
Emporia State hosts Missouri Southern Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 12 noon at the Trusler Sports Complex.
