The Olpe Lady Eagles advanced to the Emporia 1A sub-state tournament championship game with a dominant 64-35 win over Chetopa Friday night.
The Lady Eagles opened the game on a 13-0 run to establish a lead they would never relinquish in the first quarter. Olpe would build the lead to 31 and despite being outscored by the Hornets 11-5 in the fourth quarter managed to secure their spot in the sub-state finals.
Olpe had four players end the night in double figures and were led by junior Marley Heins with 15. Junior Macy Smith ended the night with 14 points while junior Maya Bishop and senior Neleh Davis both finished the night with 12.
Coach Jesse Nelson says his team got off to a great start.
Olpe will now face Berean Academy in the sub-state championship at 1:30 pm in White Auditorium Saturday.
In El Dorado, the Waverly Lady Bulldogs saw their season come to an end with a 42-32 loss to Norwich in the sub-state semifinals. Waverly would start the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run to come within two but would hit a dry spell down the stretch allowing Norwich to clinch the win.
Waverly was led in scoring by senior Megan Foster with 23 points.
Waverly ends the season with a 17-7 record.

In the boys championship game Burlington plays Osawatomie.
