Residents flocked to Commercial Street for the grand opening of the newest Emporia business Trox Gallery and Gifts Friday afternoon.
Trox is the culmination of a long-time goal for both Emporia Main Street as their first incubated business and owner Kaila Mock, co-creator of Emporia’s monthly First Friday Artwalk. Mock says Trox is the culmination of a dream she has had since graduating from Emporia State University.
Main Street Director Casey Woods says they are proud to assist local entrepreneurs as the success of the region truly hinges on entrepreneurial development.
Woods says Trox provides a “magnification effect” for the local community as it benefits not only the business itself but also local artists and fellow establishments in Emporia. Eventually, Trox will occupy its own storefront and is able to utilize the incubation space for up to 18 months as it works towards that purpose.
Woods says Main Street has already been approached by several other aspiring businesses looking to utilize the space once Trox moves on. Woods says Main Street will open an application process for space at Emporia Main Street’s website.
In the meantime, Woods says they can still work with local entrepreneurs through virtual incubation and consultations. For more information visit Emporiamainstreet.org or call Main Street at 620-340-6430.
