Wind speeds will be low across our area Friday, but the fire danger is very high.
As a result, Osage County has extended its burn ban until 8 am Saturday. Emergency Management Director Bryce Romine says the ban may be extended at least through Saturday as breezy conditions return to the area, and there is a possibility it could be extended again Sunday with gusty winds increasing past 40 mph.
The Osage County burn ban has been in place since Wednesday night.
In other area counties, including Lyon County, burn bans ended Thursday evening when red flag warnings for critical fire danger expired.
