Hartford-Neosho Rapids and Emporia Fire crews made quick work of a minor grass and structure fire in Neosho Rapids Wednesday.
Fire crews and Lyon County Deputies were called to a residence at 711 Walnut Street, shortly before 5 pm, for a reported grass fire. Shortly after the initial call, a second call for a structure fire came down in the same location.
According to Lyon County Deputies on scene, the fire began as a controlled burn in an adjacent yard before spreading to the yard at 711 Walnut. Fire scorched roughly a quarter of an acre of grass and caused minor damage to a carport on the property.
Crews had the fire under control quickly and no injuries were reported.
