The Emporia State softball team was 1 and 1 on day one of the Washburn Classic Friday.
The Lady Hornets opened with a 13-6 win over Sioux Falls. They blew the game open with a 7 run 5th inning highlighted by a grand slam by Hannah Steeby. Destiny Ojigoh was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Missouri St. Louis out scored Emporia State 11-1 in their second game. UMSL scored 7 runs in the 5th inning to complete the run rule.
Emporia State will play St. Cloud and Rockhurst Saturday.
