All four Emporia High wrestlers have a shot to place at the 5A state tournament at the conclusion of day one.
Xerarch Tungjaroenkul advanced to the championship semi-finals of the 132 lbs division on day one before losing to Hartwell Taylor of Lansing 3-2. Tungjaroenkul will now move to the consolation bracket and will face the winner of the 132 lbs consolation quarterfinal match.
Three Spartans will be wrestling in the opening round of day 2. Whitney Hall will face Mason Ross of Wichita Northwest at 220 lbs, Ethan Garate will face Bailey Meredith of Topeka Seaman at 170 lbs and Lukas Hainline will face Zak Kalafut of St. Thomas Aquinas at 113 lbs.
