There were no medals for the three Emporia High wrestlers at the first ever girls state tournament Thursday.
Trinity Ervin at 191 pounds received a first round bye. In the quarterfinals she was defeated in overtime. In the 2nd round of consolations she won her match 1-0. In the consolation quarterfinals Ervin lost by a 5-1 decision.
Megan Olson at 235 pounds lost her first round match by fall. She received a bye in the consolation first round. Olson won her consolation 2nd round match by fall. In the consolation quarterfinals she was defeated by fall.
Gloria Peroza at 143 lost her first round match by fall. She received a bye in the first round of consolations and lost by fall in the consolation 2nd round.
Council Groves Jolie Ziegler finished in 1st place at 170 pounds with a 27-0 record.
Burlingames Gianna Culbert finished in 3rd place at 136 pounds.
Washburn Rural won the team championship.
Emporia High finished in 58th place out of 80 schools.
