Local civic leaders are pleased a major networking and information conference is coming to Emporia later this year.
The Rural Rise Summit will be June 28-29 and will bring as many as 200 economic development and community development officials to town. Emporia Main Street Director Casey Woods says the goal is to share information about stimulating rural economies.
Tyler Curtis, Emporia State University’s Assistant Vice President for Outreach and Engagement and for University Advancement, attended the Rural Rise summit last year in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He says it’s an exciting event because those coming to Emporia will get a chance to share their success stories and also learn about the local highlights, including downtown development and education assets.
The conference will feature a flurry of five-minute presentations as well as speakers and walking tours.
Emporia worked with the Kauffman Foundation, a funder of Rural Rise and also of the entrepreneurial conference E-Ship taking place June 29-July 2 in Kansas City, to land Rural Rise.
