The Lebo Lady Wolves shook off a slow start from the field to pick up a 46-20 win over Madison in the opening round of the Waverly Regional Tuesday.
The first five minutes of the ball game would see both teams scoreless before Lebo put up the first points of the ball game and established an 8-2 lead at the end of one. In the second quarter, Lebo would heat up and go on a 17-1 run to establish a 25-3 lead at the half.
The Lady Wolves continued the dominance in the second half where they held Madison to just one basket from the field in the third quarter en route to their first-round win. The Lady Wolves will now face Olpe in the regional semifinals Friday night in Waverly.
Lebo Head Coach Patrick Gardner says a solid defense will be the key to their success in that ball game.
Lebo was led in scoring by sophomore Abby Peek with 14 points. Sophomore Allie Moore ended the night with 12 points and freshman Brooklyn Jones had 10.
Madison was led in scoring by freshman Elizabeth Freund with 8 points. Madison finishes their season with a record of 3-18.
Hartford advances to the semi-finals after out scoring Marais des Cygnes Valley 50-10. Hartford will play Waverly in Fridays semi-finals.
Southern Coffey County out scored Marmaton Valley 37-35 to advance to play St. Paul in the Marmaton Valley Regional semi-finals.
