The theme of the concert was “We Give Thanks,” and the Emporia Symphony Orchestra and ESU choirs used five different selections to do just that as it honored women composers from the last century.
Selections from four composers — Jocelyn Hagen, Cecilia McDowall, Jennifer Higdon and the late Lili Boulanger — made up the concert.
Up next for the ESU Music Department is the Wind Ensemble concert at 7:30 pm Wednesday night. The Emporia Symphony Orchestra has a Masterworks concert April 14 as its grand finale.
