Emporia city commissioners have an action meeting Wednesday night, and the agenda is full.
Most of the items have to do with development of some sort. Commissioners will consider authorizing a contract amendment request for a six-month extension for the ongoing downtown sanitary sewer improvement project. Engineers have cited delays due to wet conditions last year and cold conditions this winter.
Commissioners have several housing-related matters to approve, including a $300,000 housing rehabilitation grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce Community Development Block Grant program to rehab 14 homes near Peter Pan Park; and a resolution establishing a hearing date for the Riverside Rural Housing Incentive District just south of Riverside Elementary. There is also an application for a USDA Rural Business Development Grant to flesh out an Innovation and Prototype Lab for entrepreneurial work.
Commissioners may authorize a Federal-Aid Fund Exchange master agreement for upcoming street work. This typically provides a 90-10 state-to-local matching ratio for street projects. The city has not yet determined a project if this item moves forward.
One other item of note will be discussed: potential changes to fishing rules and regulations at Jones and Peter Pan parks.
The meeting starts at 7 pm at the Municipal Courtroom.
