On Wednesday, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will auction off a notable downtown Emporia property.
The former Brickyard 20 Ale House at 402 Merchant will be auctioned as part of a foreclosure action. The Sheriff’s Office website, www.lyoncounty.org/sheriff, lists a debt of over $680,000 for the property. MBPH LLC is listed as the primary owner through Lyon County records.
The auction is at 10 am in the Lyon County Courthouse lobby.
Brickyard 20 operated from 2015 through part of 2018, becoming a hub of different local activities. The address also served as other eating establishments in the last 20 years, including Fourth Avenue Dining Company, and it had to be renovated after a significant fire in late 2004. The nearly 16,000-square-foot space was built in 1925 and has a total appraised value of around $238,000, according to Lyon County records.
