Phase one of this year’s fundraising work by the St. Patrick’s Committee is now complete.
Spokesperson Barb Lowery unveiled the 16 groups and organizations to receive funds later this year as part of KVOE’s Morning Show on Monday. She says it was a tough choice.
The groups that advanced to the fundraising stage this year are as follows:

*Emporia Public Library
*First United Methodist Church
*Lord’s Lambs Preschool
*Loving Hands Ministry
*Neosho Valley Shrine
*Newman Regional Health Teddy Bear Clinic

*Sacred Heart School
*TFI Family Services
*USD 252 Southern Lyon County Honor Flight

The committee’s scholarship at Flint Hills Technical College will also receive funding. The overall goal this year is $30,000.
Fundraising now picks up steam in advance of the committee’s annual auction Feb. 28 at Bruffs Sports Bar and Grill. More funds will be generated by March 14 through several means, including activities at Town Royal, the Leprechaun Dash 5K and the brand-new Luck of the Irish Ace Chase disc golf tournament at Fremont Park.
