On Sunday night, fans across Chiefs Kingdom celebrated something they hadn’t done in 50 years: a Super Bowl victory.
The Chiefs came from 10 points down in the fourth quarter to beat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20, triggering joyous celebrations at private parties and organized community gatherings alike. At Bruffs Sports Bar & Grill, spectator Justin Rose enjoyed the game and the setting.
At the Granada Theatre, Director Rebecca Herrera was ecstatic to offer a free viewing party to Emporia.
Once the game was over, fireworks lit up the night sky.
There were a handful of fireworks complaints to Emporia Police after the game ended. There is no word on citation numbers at this time.
Greg Rahe will have much more on the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory in his sportscasts Monday on KVOE and KVOE.com.
