At work or at home, Kansas City Chiefs gear is the thing this week.
Numerous local businesses have declared a Red Friday or a Red Weekend ahead of the Chiefs’ appearance in Super Bowl Sunday. Emporia Police officers can also wear Chiefs headgear and sport Chiefs flags Friday through Sunday, while Lyon County deputies can wear Chiefs hats this weekend.
In the spirit of the Big Game coming this weekend, Thomas Felts Photography organized a city-wide photo of Chiefs fans in front of ESU’s Plumb Hall.
Emporians flocked to the University’s building all decked out in their Chiefs’ red-and-gold gear. Thomas Felts is responsible for bringing this group of dedicated fans together. Felts says he appreciates the dedication everyone showed being able to come to the photo with limited notice.
The Kansas City Chiefs will be playing the San Fransisco 49er’s in Miami on Sunday for the Big Game. Kickoff is set for 5:30 pm Sunday afternoon. This is the Chief’s first Super Bowl appearance since 1970 when they bested the Minnesota Vikings. The Chiefs were also in the first Super Bowl, losing to Green Bay in 1967.
